3 things I’m most thankful for

by Gayla Baer

My blogging buddy Doris tagged me on the three things I’m most thankful for.  Almost immediately I began to type away at the things I’m ‘most’ thankful for – then I realized just how very blessed I truly am.

It’s very difficult to list only three – so I’ll just type away at the things that come to my mind first…

I’m thankful for my God and my faith. Through the many trials and valley’s I’ve found myself in throughout my life, I’ve always come through in the end to realize just why some things must happen. Through him, all things truly are possible.

Next I am thankful for my twin boys and my family – I’ve always joked about having the most functional dysfunctional family – however, it’s not really a joking matter.  In fact, it’s something I’m quite proud of.  I only wish all families could realize what my family did a long time ago.  That when you put the kids first, everything else seems to fall into place.

My husband – he was my high school sweetheart.  He was the first man I ever loved and now he’ll be the last.  Things are just as they were meant to be.

My friends – thanks to the internet, I’m able to connect with friends across the states and around the globe.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could make such a connection with faceless friends and only through their words.  Even as I sit in my little house in the midst of a snowstorm, my friends whisk me away to places I may otherwise never get to see -  but now I can, with their eyes.

My health – when I look back to where I was 8 years ago and feeling as though my life were over – as if I were looking the Angel of Death right in the eye, there isn’t a day that goes by that I am not thankful that I am here another day, week, month and year beyond that point.

I’m going to leave the tagging open and invite anyone reading this to participate and send me your link.  I’d be happy to continue the goodness :)

It’s nice to hear what makes others grateful. Family is at the top of my list too.
