A MomGadget Review – DayCare Bear

Most people who know me, know that I’m a big advocate of at least one parent staying at home with their children – but that’s in a perfect world. Most families these days consist of a single parent household or a household that relies on both parents working, just to make ends meet.

When this is the case, I believe in doing taking special care in selecting childcare that’s going to be most beneficial to the child and stress free for the parent.

Daycare Bear started December 5th 2005 as a way of helping U.S. parents to find childcare in their area more quickly. Finding an opening in a high quality, yet affordable, daycare environment can be frustrating at best.

Daycare Bear provides a search engine dedicated to daycare providers and childcare services to help parents in this search.

Daycare Bear does not screen the providers listed, they do however, make this recommendation:

Any childcare provider can create a listing on Daycare Bear. We thus strongly encourage parents to screen their prospective childcare providers. Parents should always ask for references from their prospective providers, do a background check, and ensure that the services that are advertised are the services their child will get. Short descriptions and/or numerous spelling mistakes in a listing are usually not a sign of an attentive and conscientious provider.

This service is especially helpful to families who’ve recently moved to a new area and are unable to gain first hand references toward quality childcare.

I found the support team at Daycare bear were not very helpful in answering some questions I had. Financially they cannot provide phone support but then again via email they were also very ignorant.

Daycare Bear is a quality service, but I’m sure there are difficulties in providing an email only type service as the earlier commenter stated.

on’t forget to check on pop in visits. Make sure you can pop in anytime and visit with your child. If they frown on that they may be doing things that they don’t want you to see(spanking, talking down to them, only one teacher to huge group of kids, etc) also, check with neighbors or others in neighborhood that could give good recommendations
