As part of the Carnival of Red Hot Bloggers and MomGadget – I’m joining in on this weeks blog carnival – being hosted by Buyology with my personal reflections of our family Christmas.
Though it was about as hectic as I could stand and I’m now glad it’s over and things are slowing back to a pace of normalcy, I have to share with my blogosphere the gift that meant or rather, still means the most.
First, my mother and stepfather were able to make it home for the holidays. This is the first year we’ve shared together since they moved back to Canada. It was so nice having them here for a visit and even nicer that our new home has been able to accomodate all of us.
Next, my husbands ex phoned him and allowed the kids to come early this year. Rather than waiting until late Christmas Eve like the courts ordered, she allowed them to come the evening of their last day of school. Not sure what her motive is/was and I’m sure there is one – but the children were right where they needed to be in order to share a loving family Christmas.
Finally, the most cherished gift of all was being able to meet my niece for the first time. Jacie is now 6-years-old and lives out of state. My brother was able to talk with and work with her mother enough to have her visit for 6 days.
Jacie is my only niece (well, until my brother gets married in June and becomes daddy to three more) though I already feel a connection to two of the children – Jacie was such a treasured surprise.
Aside from getting ‘people’ for Christmas, my husband and kids felt it was time to get me some new clothes. I think they were getting tired of me hanging out in the same old ratty pair of jeans and sweatshirts. I’ve actually got some pretty girl clothes now
My after Christmas purchase/gift to myself is a Pink Razr and all it’s accessories. Love IT!
