Introduced in the fall of 2007, Zune Originals (ZuneOriginals.net) is an online design studio where consumers can customize a Zune player by choosing colors, exclusive artwork and personal text that can be laser-etched onto the back of the device.
Zune Originals aims to infuse pop culture, relevant fashion trends and art into digital entertainment to help consumers turn their Zune into a personal statement.
Artwork in the Zune Originals collection feature designs from world-famous artists. Just in times for Mother’s Day, Zune is introducing the spring Zune Originals collection, which feature three designs by three different artists. These featured designs will be available for a limited time, April 7th through May 11th and reflect the designers interpretation of Mother Earth. Each artist also created a playlist to go along with their design that will be featured on Zune Marketplace. (You can get the playlists for FREE with the 14 day Zune Pass trial)
Artists include:
Carolina Melis – Her designs are inspired by Sardinian folk art tapestries. (her design is on the green device)
APAK – A husband and wife duo from Portland, Aaron Piland and Ayumi Kajikawa, said their design is all about celebrating the Matriarch — nature, creativity, music, the universe, plants, animals, love, and the gift of life. (design on the pink device)
Linn Olofsdotter – An illustrator who’s design reflects the queen bee – the ultimate matriarch. (design on the blue device)
What a fun, hip element to add to Mother’s Day this year!

people have yet to realize the Zune beats the iPod as far as usability but iPod wins cuz of branding…
We’ve just been playing with the new Zune HD and it is pretty impressive but as Sean said iPod will still win even though the actual product isn’t as good.
