DECT 6.0 Cordless Phones – Affordable with Features Galore!

by Gayla Baer

6151_lg1Has your landline phone seen better days? Are you tired of hearing more static than conversation? If so, I have an affordable solution that is well worth your consideration.

For the past several days, my husband and I have been using a DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone, brought to you by vtech. The company was kind enough to send us model DS6151. Needless to say, we LOVE it! (So does my son… who was always complaining that he couldn’t hear me, when I used my old phone.)

This phone is currently available online and will also be available at OfficeMax and Best Buy, as of May 2010. It retails for $79.99, which is a steal when you consider what you actually get for your money. Extra handsets can be purchased for $30-$35.

The DS6151 is a 2-line phone that is PERFECT for small businesses or households that have two phone lines or prefer a dial-up Internet connection. It is a fully expandable phone system. You can use up to 12 handsets, utilizing just one phone jack. There is a nifty feature that allows you to conference outside calls between handsets or lines. The same handsets can also be used as portable intercoms, around the house.

The sound quality of this vtech phone is excellent. (Now, I just need to persuade my son to call me more!) There is a speakerphone on both the base and the handset. As you can see, the DS6151 features a large LCD base with blue backlighting. It is hearing aid compatible, as well.

The digital answering system allows 13 minutes of recording time and features a dedicated mailbox, for each line. Messages are time and date stamped and can be retrieved from any phone.

The dual line caller ID stores up to 50 calls. The phonebook directory also stores 50 names and numbers. Other features include: a hold button, handset locator, digital security and selectable ring tones.

I really can’t say enough about this phone. My only complaint is that it’s not headset compatible. Other than that, the DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone is worth every penny and then some!

Do you use the phone a lot? If so, feel free to answer these questions. What is your favorite telephone feature and what is the one thing that you dislike most about the phone you are currently using?
