A few weeks ago, I was introduced to this handy little plugin. Though it took me a few days to get around to installing it, I’m glad I did.
My listed subscribers jumped instantly from 52 to 140.
FeedBurnder FeedSmith is a reliable way to track your entire feed-reading audience and can even result in that elusive “bump in subscribers” effect when you first activate it.
If you do happen to install this plugin, I’d LOVE to hear what kind of a spike you see in your own subscriber base.

Thanks for finding this! This is something that I’ve been wondering about.
Can this be used with blogger?
Eliza ~ This is only a Wordpress plugin. I’ve not heard anything similar for Blogger. I’m sure something is out there – you’d think there would almost have to be.
I’ve used this plugin almost from the beginning on my blogs so don’t have anything to compare them with, but I can tell you it works great and it’s nice to have a more accurate count of subscribers. Now, my only frustration is with the flakiness of Feedburner’s reporting – you never know when you’ll have a day when your subscriber count will tank and then the next day it’s back up again. Maybe Google buying them will improve the quality and consistency of the reporting!
Eliza,
There is a new plugin for blogger. Go to your edit template, settings and enter your site feed.
Thanks. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time, but you’ve just lit the fire under me.
I installed this tonight and saw no spike. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that my WordPress blogs are relatively new?
You would think since I’m part of a couple of blog networks that there were be more subscriptions to my stuff.
I have everybody in my news reader..
I wanted to post an update to this thread.
When you add this plug-in it takes a couple of days for it to kick in.
When I logged on today I did see a spike in my feed burner numbers.
I went from having to subscribers to a number somewhere in the teens.
Thanks for posting this Gayla!
I’m glad you’re finding the plug-in useful. I’ve been very happy with the results
I installed this a couple of days ago and saw my subscribers triple. The only thing I can’t work out is if some of these are bots and therefore don’t really count.
