I’ve just finished the book Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock-n-Roll and Mental Illness. I was excited to review this book. It is gripping yet eye opening to the world of models and their tendency toward drug addiction.
The book is a collection of stories told by Mary about her childhood. Stories that send chills up my spine and some that are all too familiar to my own life.
Mary makes it easy for readers to relate to her and has a way of taking the standard stereotype of mental Illness to a place that all but vanishes from my mind. Anyone who has been diagnosed with a mental illness or feels they may be suffering from one, or even one who might have a friend or a family member suffering from mental illness should find comfort in Fall to Pieces.
Regardless, this book grabs your attention and keeps you thirsting for more up and to the very end.Even if you don’t have it is a interesting book…that will keep you interested until the end.
This book can be found at Amazon.com and would make a thoughtful, heartfelt gift to the reader on your Christmas list.

I saw something about this book on another blog yesterday. It sounds just fascinating; I’m sure I think that at least partially because of a relative’s issues with bipolar disorder. It’s a rocky, rocky road. I tend to read these and have to put them down at points, because it hits too close to home. Another great memoir on living with mental illness that I’ve read is “bipolar bare,” by Carlton Davis. Very real, very raw and, in the end, very hopeful. He has found enjoyment of the gift of bipolar disorder that God has given him.
