As much as I hate to admit it, winter is just around the corner – and so are four kids with the onset of cabin fever that’s sure to take up residence for a few months.
Winter seems to be the time when parents try to get a bit creative with indoor activities for the kids – when they’re not encouraging the kids to be creative on their own that is.
Recently my kids received a pair of FunSlides Carpet Skates. Talk about a nifty idea! With getting new carpet put in the basement in a few weeks, my kids will have their own skating rink right here at home. I’ve had to halt my budding skate boarding champs until I can provide an environment they can skate around to their hearts content in. These little gadgets do provide quite the active workout which is far better than exercising their thumbs with the video games all the time. What parent doesn’t like an activity that gets the kids off the couch?
I’ve always been a fan of the Furniture Sliders. I have them in every size available. I even went so far as to make them one of my all around Christmas purchases for family one year which became one of the biggest hits of the season around our household and family. I never dreamed those gizmos could evolve into so many fun indoor activities.
FunSlides Carpet Skates are constructed with a friction resistant plastic base and foam foot grip. They have an adjustable hook and loop velcro closure and fit up to a size 15 shoe. Once in place under your shoes, you can literally skate across any carpet surface turning the any room into an ice-skating rink.

Carpet Bocce is a spin-off of the outdoor Italian pastime. Using sliding carpet pucks, gear up for some friendly competition across the floor. Teams will have a great time trying to slide their puck closest to the jack. Great on any flat surface – my kids play this in the kitchen on our hardwood floor.
Face-Off Frenzy PowerBand Hockey is the latest and greatest in air hockey-except the game is played on carpet or even the kitchen table. Perfect for the long dreary winter days ahead. Face-Off Frenzy is played with goalie mallets and a light weight carpet puck designed to emulate the speed found in arcades. Using no electricity and without the noise of normal air hockey, powerbands provide the action and a plastic game frame contains the carpet puck. The frame is 2 X 5 ft for two players and can expand into 5 X 5 ft for four players.
All are designed for carpet or wood floor and easily taken apart and stored. Kids are guaranteed to have loads of fun with these indoor entertainment options that actually get them up and moving – helping prevent the overgrowth of that winter wool we all tend to accumulate over the holidays.
MomGadget AND Gadget Teen highly recommend these products to any family with carpet or wood floors!
A Reader’s Toolbox: As the concept of video conferencing is getting common, demand for projectors has increased. LCD and DLP projectors of infocus projectors are rocking in market. For live video conferencing, you can connect samsung digital cameras with these projectors. Professional photographers always give preference to minolta digital cameras because of their dimage functionality. Different companies are offering low pricing on online sale of projectors and inkjet printers, while on the other hand few are offering free cell phone as a part of special promotional offer.

Do those carpet sliders really work? Sounds like a great idea for my kids! We just re-carpeted most of the house and the kids have been so excited about how “fuzzy wuzzy” it is.
They look realy nice i will go and get them. thank you for showing all this gadgets.
I agree this looks like a great gadget, one which id like to own and slide around the house!
How can I get my product reviewed on your website? We manufacture two high end gadgets. One that reduces wrinkles and another that gives you a workout while you relax. Thanks!
I think they are a great idea…BUT…the school I send my child too thought it would be a great idea to let her use them for a motor development class…WITH OUT ANY PROTECTION!! Now bare in mind she is only 5 and has never really skated anything before. She fell forward and broke her right forearm COMPLETELY!..When I saw her, her hand was pointing to the left. I believe they are for ages 6-up…but if you buy for your child…get wrist guards..PLEASE! It was a very painful wake up call..especially for me watching my baby-girl go though that kind of pain.
Wow what a great idea, this has got to be safer than roller skates for the kids. Carpet burns are going to be easier than tarmac grazes to clean up. Sounds like a great idea!
Where were these when we were kids!! These look like fun!
This is so much fun! it strongly reminds me of riding a snow saucer. Speedy and really cool. Have you ever heard of them? Take a look
Video conferencing gave us a way to handle business meetings more efficiently”,
I would have loved to have those as a kid. Fun way to zip around the house, and if you fall at least you do so on the soft carpet as opposed to somewhere less forgiving.
Nice little toy. I remember running around on wood floors in my stocking feet. This is cool since hard floors are not as common these days.
i always love to do videoconferencing because it is quite convenient..,
video conferencing is one of the nice stuffs that we enjoy because of high speed internet,~,
roller skating is my sport, this sport is very enjoyable and is a form of exercise too~”,
i alway attend video conferencing at least once a week because of our company meetings and leadership training”-`
Goodness, they DO look like fun!
I agree with what Lee says (above) about the need to have protection. It looks like it would be easy for a child to slip and fall and bang their head on some hard furniture.
The other thing that I like about these is that they look like they would do less damage to the pile (fibres) of your carpet than roller skates or rollerblades – not only because they’re purely for indoor use (and don’t track mud or dirt deep into the pile), but also because they don’t put as much pressure on the pile and damage the fibres as the edges of skates do.
Overall, a fantastic idea! I’m glad I stumbled across the site.
I wish I had a pair of my own carpet skates now to use around the office!
That makes everything much easier and faster, so glad i came to read this fantastic blog.
This will give a new edge to carpet making as those which give a lesser friction to the skating will be encouraged.
I think I born bit early in this world because when I was child there were not this kind of technology. But it glad to know so now my kids can have fun those which I can not have it.
I love those carpet skates. They are so much fun. My brother has a pair
