Have you seen the commercials for the EyeClops Mini Projector? From the moment my boys saw the commercial, they didn’t stop talking about this tech toy. We received one to review and let me tell you…they LOVE it! It has provided hours of fun for them and their friends.
Why do they think it’s so cool and what does the thing do? Here’s a video review from Aaron, who is 5, and Josiah, who is 10.
Aaron said he likes it because of the 60 inch screen. Josiah likes it because you can watch videos and play video games. Our entire family has had fun with the EyeClops Mini Projector. We have family coming in for the holidays and we can’t wait to hook this up and watch a movie.
I read some reviews when I was considering buying one of these for my 10 year old. The reviews were either great or not great. The ones that weren’t great complained about the picture and sound. First, you must remember this IS a toy. But, even though it’s a toy I personally thought the picture was fabulous. When we first hooked it up, it was a little blurry but we figured out how to focus it just right to where we had a great picture. The movies we watched were clearer than the video games.
As for the sound, I think it depends on the device. We plugged in a plug-in-play video game and it was a little hard to hear. Then we plugged in our DVD player to watch a movie and it was so loud we had to turn it down! it was the same for the Wii when we plugged it in…the sound was great.
Here are a few more details about the EyeClops Mini Projector:
- Pocket-sized and lightweight on the go media player – watch movies, play video games on the go
- Up to 60 inch screen
- From any multi-media device: DVD players, MP3 players, video game players, digital cameras and more!
- You can route this through your cable or satellite box and watch the big game outside while you BBQ
- Included battery pack runs on D cell and provides up to 5+ hours of life
- Get unlimited power with the included DC adapter
- Suggested retail price: $99
I can definitely see us enjoying the EyeClops Mini Projector for a long time. We have some plans this summer to watch movies outside. We can’t wait for that!
This really does make a great gift and you will have one thrilled little boy! I know mine are.

Wow, I want to get one too. I am already 27 years old but I know that I’ll like this one. The real projector is just too expensive for me.
I never understood how to apply!
I think that’s a very nice gadget!
I’ve tried this out and returned it in the same day. I mean, its a cool “toy” but as far as it being actually usable to what it says it can do, it really can’t perform. I understand that you’ve addressed the product as just a toy, but really, a 60 inch screen isn’t very attainable.
here is a proper review i’ve found: http://micro-projector.com/?p=78
They have a video of the product in action on their site as opposed to child reactions. I’ve experienced similar issues as to this review.
Other mothers might be misled by this so I thought I’d share my opinion on this. Please take no offense to my post, but as a “fair” discussion, I’d love for you to leave my post available to read even though it is negative.
Again, its a cool toy and isn’t too much of a loss if it is broken or spilled on.
BuckW – I have absolutely no problem leaving your comment up.
And yes, I did address the review as a toy, which is what it is. My boys have used the projector over and over again and just love it. It’s something they can set up themselves, use when their friends come over and just have a great time with.
They think it’s cool and I am happy with that. I would never let them play around with one of those expensive projectors.
If you are an adult looking for a projector, then I wouldn’t recommend this. For kids though, it’s perfect.
Hi BuckW:
It is a toy, I agree with Julie. A nifty one and an innovative, if not novel, one, but it is still a toy.
Personally, I’d want one
I agree with your review. If you look at this with the expectation that it will out-perform a high definition projector you will be sorely disappointed. If you know its a toy, and want to get a big screen for movies or video games on the super cheap, this is a great option.
For a business metting of 20 people… NO WAY
For my kids… absolutely
I was thinking about getting one of these for my boys but you mentioned watching the big game while cooking on the BBQ. The light bulb went in my head, it is perfect for watching baseball outside! With opening day just around the corner, I will be getting one of these to use out in the garage. The only downside is, the boys will be upset. I might have to get two. Thanks for the review, very helpful
Of course this is a toy, but the idea is great. Nowadays kids have more and more options on which toys they’re gonna pick.
Cheers
Andrei
