I have to admit, when I was approached with the opportunity to review the universal remote accessory, i-Got-Control for the iPhone and iPod Touch recently, I had to call on my teenagers to assist.
Little did I know just how well i-Got-Control was going to work and how much “control” it would place in the hands of ornery teens.
All the sudden, I had teenagers roaming around the yard taking aim at windows and seizing control over televisions and video games throughout the house.
Obviously the i-Got-Control works and works well.
So well, I had to establish a set of i-Got-Rules for its use.
In all seriousness though – I like the fact that it can be programmed in a way that eliminates all the remotes that take up room and collect dust on my coffee table. As well, it has put a stop to our daily routine of remote control hunting.
The i-Got-Control is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and apparently Apple’s new iPad, it comes with 40,000 IR codes for different consumer electronic devices pre-programmed and an application that is available to download from iTunes.
“i-Got-Control empowers users to operate A/V devices, as well as many other pieces of IR equipment, including lighting and HVAC systems, no matter where they are,” said Doug Schwartz, president of i-Got-it.com. “It also features an extensive built-in IR library, which means that — unlike most remote controls and other similar products in the marketplace — i-Got-Control does not require ‘learning,’ making it simple and easy to set up and use.”
The i-Got-Control universal remote for the iPhone an iPod Touch is available for $69.95 from i-Got-it.

Glad to have it, maybe I need some time to get it in a month or two, hopefully there is a discounted price.
I am sure, with the technology – everything can be easier and cheaper.
I tried an i-got-control, and it didn’t seat reliably on my touch, and I didn’t have a case, so it kept shutting off. I bought a Re from http://www.newkinetix.com, and it allows room for a good connection even with my case installed. Then I began using the Re and comparing. Both the Re and the i-got-control have the advantage of the built-in database so they’re much more likely to support your devices and easier to set up that the learning versions (L5 & PowerA) and have more codes than the FLPR.
The big difference with the Re is it has a lot more advanced software to set up activities, macros and favorites. The Re really stands out from the other iPhone IR accessories. Be sure to really compare the features before you buy anything else.
That’s quite interesting. I constantly lose remote conrols))) the problem is that i don’t like iphone…
Wowwwww..this is really cool gadget !!!
This is a great accessory! I loved it. Do you know, does it also work with the iPad? What commands can it be used for?
Sounds like Wil works for link he listed, way too technical. I hate when people do that. It’s so deceiving. Anyway, I got mine and I think it’s great. Really easy to use.
