The good people at Kashi sent us some very healthy snacks to try out, the Kashi TLC’s (Tasty little chewies) chewy and crunchy granola bars. We got to try a variety of flavors and each child (and myself) had a different opinion and taste. First, each bar has 7 whole grains and sesame seeds in them, they are also made with ingredients such as soy milk, nuts (check the box to see if they have peanuts, some do), wheat and soy. The chewy bars are short but thick (fat), the crunchy bars are just like your average size granola bars with two in each package.
My (and now I wish I took a picture) favorite was the Fruit & Grain Dark Chocolate Coconut bar because they were chewy and had
this layer that was grain, a thick not thin smothering of chocolate (or pumpkin) and then the topping. With the coconut there were sprinkles of it on top which tasted so good that after eating one I wanted another. I’m already planning on picking a box for MYSELF the next time I get to the store.
Try this delightfully sweet combination – a layer of real soft fruit mixed with rich, dark chocolate, plus delicate strands of coconut and crunchy walnuts. Our Dark Chocolate Coconut fruit & grain bars have 4g Fiber and 4g Protein.
Flavors we tried:
Chewy: Dark Mocha Almond, Peanut Peanutbutter, Dark Chocolate Coconut (YUMMY) and Pumpkin Pie
Crunchy: Pumpkin Spice Flax, Roasted Almond Crunch
Kids’ Reviews:
BalletGirl, age 9- I tried the Kashi TLC peanut peanutbutter one and it tasted like there were real peanuts inside, not peanut butter for sandwiches but real nuts. I also tried the pumpkin spice flax crunchy granola bar it tasted liked pumpkin pie except crunchy. Which did you like best? I liked the crunchy because it taste better..
BabyGirl, age 6- Dark Mocha Almond, it kind of tastes like coffee, oatmeal and a little bit of chocolate. The tastes stays in your mouth for a while too. She then tried the crunchy pumpkin spice flax but she didn’t like that it was hard, she preferred the softer one. (chewy wins)
SoccerBoy, age 13- Crunchy with the pumpkin spice taste. Which do you prefer? I like the chewy because it is softer. The softer one reminds me of no baked cookies or rice krispie treats.
As for me, I liked the fact that these are healthy and don’t contain a bunch of artificial ingredients or refined sugar, these are all natural. The Kashi TLC bars can be found at Walmart for about $2.50-$3 a box. These would make for a great snack for lunch or even after school. Kashi also has a GOLEAN line if you are watching your weight. By the way, right now if you go to their site you can save $1.50 off 2 with the printable coupon.
(I was sent a free box of a variety of flavors to try out for this reveiw. I was also sent some cereal to try but that’s another review.)

If you go to the Kashi website, they might still be giving away the free sample bars. I ordered some like a year ago and they were great, but it takes a few weeks for them to arrive.
I love Kashi everything and wish they would come out with gluten free items!!!
I’ve had both of these and they are delic! My personal fav is the coconut bar, mmm.
