Kimochis Cat Review & Giveaway

by MomGadget Eliza

I’m the mother of four and my youngest just turned 3, but he still has a hard time telling me how he feels about things. Back when I homeschooled the first two I use to have them draw their feelings to show me how they were

feeling that particular day. This worked for the most part, but I must admit I did stop it after signing them up for public school. Lately he has showed all types of emotions, but I can’t figure one from another. I think I found an answer to that. I was lucky enough to get to review a Kimochis.

Kimochis has four characters: Cloud, Huggs, Bug, Lovey and Cat. Each character comes with three feelings (no feeling is the same). We were sent Cat, which is an adorable, cuddly orange cat with beige colored paws and tummy. Cat’s tummy is open, kind of like a kangaroo’s tummy. Inside Cat’s tummy are her feelings, we had: Happy, Cranky and Curious. The feelings look almost like different colored Kirby’s, each one has a facial expression on one side and the word feeling on the other. Since cat sometimes fights (cat fights) she needs a small set of bandages, so they’ve supplied her with 5 bandages that stick to her when she has a boo boo. Little A just loved that part and you’ll see that in one of the pictures below.

Curious

Curious

Example: our yellow feeling has a smiley smirk on one side and the word “curious” on the other. This is also Little A’s favorite feeling. If he sees him he’ll stick a finger up to his cheek as if he were thinking and says, “hmm.”

kimochisTo me, Kimochis are great because they are not only cute but can help you and your child communicate on a level that they can understand. We’ve already decided that we are going to buy another (sets on Amazon come in 12) Kimochis Mixed Feelings Pouch – Loved, Jealous, Grateful, Scared and Shy.  Hopefully now he can just tell me how he is feeling instead of showing me by tossing toys, trying to dump my tv or climbing cabinets.  Along with the Kimochis Cat and feelings we got a 48-page Kimochis Feel Guide, which talks about how we (as parents/teachers) can teach our kids and help them build confidence.

Kimochis (Key.Mo.Chee) are the actual feelings (in Japanese) the character has, in case you hadn’t figured that part out . These little pillows (with feelings), or as my kids like to say Kirby’s with feelings on them, help share how they feel and explore other feelings they might have. A child may seem upset when at a birthday party, once at home hand the bucket of feelings to them and you may find out they weren’t actually mad but jealous. Many might figure this out but for the child that has STRONG emotions you may be confused or think something actually happened and this just helps out.

You can purchase a Kimochis character with feelings (box set) for $25 at Kimochis.com or Amazon, or the Feelings Set for $12 (comes with 6). Currently the feelings are on Pre-order and the LoveyDove isn’t available yet. Or you could try and win one right here, that’s right the great people at Kimochis would like to give one lucky reader the Kimochis Cat.

1-56 random.org picked #10 ANTHY

Oh, man, I just realized that there was a second mandatory entry, and it means that I can’t enter your contest, since I won’t sign up for a Facebook account no matter what. I’m sorry! Please let me know if you open this up to non-Facebook peeps, though, because I’ll totally enter if you do. (I have a twitter account where I could follow instead?)

she did follow up by stating: Thank you so much for amending the rules! That was incredibly nice of you.

I now follow Kimochis via twitter, @my_twitraccount.

:-)
