dscn3047If you’re a Mets fan and eat gluten free, you can now get gluten free snackes at Citifield!

A partner of the Mets since 2008, and official pudding of the team, all Kozy Shack® puddings and gels are gluten-free and will now be available along with additional food products in a branded gluten-free food cart for easier recognition by fans. The Mets developed the stand-alone cart in response to one of the most common requests from fans, who asked for a gluten-free concession. In addition to Kozy Shack® gluten-free snacks, the cart will also feature hot dogs and hamburgers with gluten-free buns and gluten-free beer. Baseball fans can locate the cart on Field Level in the right field corner, just outside the World’s Fare Market.

dscn3048But even if you don’t get to Citifield, you can get Kozy Shack puddings in the dairy case of your local grocery store. They sent me several flavors to try–my husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how very good they are.  The Original Rice pudding was delicious. It tasted like home made!

I took some of the Chocolate to a cook out, and everyone there loved it.  It was very smooth, and had a very good chocolate flavor.

Kozy Shack has been making pudding since 1967. You can enjoy their all natural, kettle cooked puddings guilt free knowing that each is made with real dairy milk, is a good source of calcium and has no hydrogenated oils or preservatives.  That they are gluten free is an added bonus for those of us who must eat a gluten free diet.

Kozy Shack puddings come in a wide variety of flavors: The Original Rice, Chocolate, Banana, Tapioca, Eurpean Style Rice, and Cinnamon Raisin Rice.  The No Sugar Added flavors include Chocolate, Rice, and Tapioca. And the Simplywell line offers Dark Chocolate, Mangosteen Pear, Lemon Ginger, Green Tea Chai, and FrenchVanilla.

Thanks for sharing this! I like the Chocolate Pudding Rice. It is also Gluten – Free rice good for those having their diet. Taste is like the same with the home made one?

Have been buying Kozy Shack Rice and tapioca for quite a while. Never had a problem so was surprised at my last purchase. I bought the large size tapioca and inasmuch as I am alone I figured I had a few desserts out of the large size. I had the first of it and then 3 days later went to have my 3rd dessert and found it had all gone to liquid. The consistancy was likened to water. Could you maybe explain this. The date of expiration date was far away and I had refrigerated it so donnot understand this. I would appreciate hearing any explanation you may have. Arlene Maroney

KozyShack Rice pudding is my favorite! I was disappointed to get a runny batch purchased at our local Wal Mart. I was worried it was spoiled or something, although the use by date is 13 July 11. I submitted a comment to them on-line so hopefully they will check into this. There was not as much rice in it either. The consistency is more like soup, rather than pudding.

I’ve been getting watery rice and tapioca puddings here on the East Coast. I’ve take them back for refunds, but it’s very frustrating. Quality control seems to have vanished of late.

I had a similar experience with Kozy Shack tapioca here in Florida. I have tried contacting Kozy Shack via their website and explained that the consistency was very watery. It’s been over a week and no one has responded to my email. Does anyone know the customer service phone #?

We’ve had problems with all flavors recently. Up until now it was our favorite. Don’t think we’ll be buying this again. The chocolate pudding now has a slimy and grainy yet runny consistency and it seems much sweeter. I am too embarrassed to take back yet another pudding so this one’s just going in the trash!

Same thing here! It happened awhile back and I contacted them via website, and they sent me 2 coupons for a free pudding. Today I redeemed them at my grocery which was also having a buy one get one sale, giving me 4 for free, and they are all watery. UGH

Found this to see if anyone else had noticed a consistency change. Rice pudding was watery with little rice. Used to be thick and full of rice, like homemade without the work. Will try writing company too but if this is a new formula will most likely not repurchase.

We have been buying Kozy Shack tapioca for a long time with no problems until recently.. It is very watery with hardly any tapioca.. We buy this product at Publix or Winn Dixie and have returned the product twice, the new ones were the same poor quality as the ones I returned.. What has happened to a former good product ??

Is the pudding of water consistency upon first opening the container, or do you notice that it becomes watery after opening?

If the former is true….there are enzymes in saliva which breaks down starches. If you take a bite and replace the spoon into the container a second time, that is enough to cause the reaction which will cause the watery consistency. To see if this is your issue, try using a fresh spoon each and every time you dip into the container. No licking the spoon and dipping it back in to serve or lick again (as tempting as it is, believe me I know!). I am so bad that I will take a spoonful…convince myself that I need another and grab a second clean spoon for the second bite. At any rate, that is the explanation I have. Give it a try…clean spoon each and every time. Make sure everyone in the household follows the same rules (no cheating!), if you don’t live alone.

That being said, yes I have noticed a difference in all of the Kozy Shack puddings in terms of consistency. The chocolate is not as smooth. The Tapioca (my all time KS pudding) used to be jam-packed with tapioca pearls, so dense and thick you could eat it with a spoon (the same being true with the Original Rice flavor as previously mentioned) and now that is NOT the case. I was disappointed and thought I had an off batch and called their customer service and was told that absolutely no changes had been made and they sent me a couple of coupons. The “new” pudding is not the older versions, in my humble opinion. I know my pudding and I am convinced that there must have been some changes made because I have been buying the flavors for years and in particular Tapioca, Original Rice, and Chocolate and they have all changed.

Let me know if the “clean spoon/no saliva” trick works!

I have also noticed a difference in consistency of the tapioca here in Louisiana. I contacted them the first time, and got a free coupon. But it was the same with the replacement and the tapioca pearls were hard. I am not happy about this and will probably quite buying it.

I’ve been buying Kozy Shack puddings for years in Pittsburgh. About 4 months ago I started noticing a problem with their regular rice pudding. It used to be much thicker. Now, about half the time it is very soupy. At first I thought it had been frozen and then thawed. The first time this happened I did nothing. The second and third times I complained to the store (returned my money) and then to Kozy Shack (received a coupon). The last 3 times is was thick like it used to be all the time. Now it’s lunch time at work and I opened the newest container and it’s not thick but soupy. I’m afraid I’m going to have stop buying this product. With the product sealed, you cannot tell what the consistency is without opening it.

Mary in Florida October 19, 2011 at 1:32 am

I’ve been buying KS Original Rice Pudding for years; it’s been a treat that is above my price comfort level, but occasionally bought as a special treat. Today I bought one from my local Walmart. It was watery and I thought it might be “off”, but it tasted fine.

After a little google searching, I’ve discovered sufficient recently-dated complaints around the USA accompanied by little to no explanation from the company, that I will not ever be re-purchasing this product.

They’ve obviously changed the process or ingredients and refuse to admit it. There’s nothing wrong with changing the process or ingredients if needed to remain competitive in the marketplace. However, lying about it (or trying to hide it) tells me enough about the company’s poor ethics that make me not want to support them.

I agree with Arelene M. on this. The pudding has turned to a consistency of liquid like milk. I have been purchasing Kozyshack for over 10 years and find this change in consistency bothersome. I will look at other brands that know how to make a pudding right

Linda in MI November 18, 2011 at 3:30 am

Same here. We’ve been buying Kozy Shack Rice Pudding for years, both in 22 oz
container and snack size, and there definitely is a difference lately. Not good anymore.
Way to watery. I don’t think we need the company to admit it – we know. For me,
there’s no point in buying it anymore.

The chocolate pudding was always my favorite. Then it became impossible to find in my area (Vancouver, BC) I finally found it and it is not the same. Disgustingly runny. Like soup. I also enjoyed the tapioca and seeing comments that it is runny too I will give up on Kozy Shack puddings. Too bad – they used to be fabulous.
