A while back I nearly gave into the late night infomercials for Bare Minerals makeup. Instead, I did what any cheap, frugal, penny-pinching mom would do – I took a coupon for Extra Bucks from CVS and spoiled myself with a new makeup to try. That choice was L’Oreal Bare Naturale mineral makeup.
Aside from the sale price, and having enough Extra Bucks to cover the purchase, what drew me to the L’Oreal version was the color match system. L’Oreal provides a plastic card that lets you match the correct shade to your true skin tone. It’s as easy as holding the plastic card against your skin and seeing which shade “disappears” against the inside of your wrist.
Having always had issues with finding a good makeup – given my history of horrible acne, sensitive skin and being prone to extremely oily skin, I was amazed at the results.
This L’Oreal makeup actually covered my problem skin in a way that other, higher priced versions failed over and over again. Just like the other brands, you still have to swirl, tap and buff, but with L’Oreal you actually get nice, long lasting results.
What’s more, my skin doesn’t break out like it used to.
A couple of things to keep in mind. If you, like so many of us, have those lovely brushes from your Bare Minerals makeup kit, you’ll be able to use them to cover small blemishes with the L’Oreal version, so don’t bother buying the separate mineral concealer that L’Oreal sells. Just use the brushes you already have to dab a tiny bit of the mineral powder onto blemishes.
Lastly, be sure to trust the color-matching sheet. I tend to want a more tan look and thought the shade I was buying was way too light for me, but it’s just right.
Trust the pro’s when it comes to choosing the right shade for you.
You won’t be sorry!
