Rant Warning:
Have you ever happened upon a blogger or webmaster that may be “famous” around the internet and perhaps have an over inflated ego because of that fame?
The reality is if you stuck them out in the real world, they’d be a peon just like the rest of us.
Most generally I’m a very quiet person on message boards, news groups and email lists. I tend to revert back to my very shy teenager side – but hang with the group just because I hope to learn something from them.
On my own blogs/forums that’s a whole different ballgame though. I tend to say just what I’m thinking!
Without revealing any names – because, heaven forbid, I rupture that ego — I’ve seen a professional blogger that I USED to look up to snap back in haste causing me to feel sorry for the person(s) who were in the line of fire.
If you’re on an email list and find that it’s too much, is it really so very difficult to create a rule that disposes of those emails without ever having to hurt someone’s feelings in the process? Or isn’t there a polite way to getting the task done?
If you’re so famous and make so much money, hire a secretary. Don’t make your readers feel as though they are somehow intrusive. Remember, they made you!
Is it really necessary to lash out at readers and belittle them? What exactly would that purpose be?
Personally, I think everyone should take lessons from Darren Rowse. Darren has always been kind, considerate and over-the-top professional. I believe that’s ultimately what serves up his tremendous success.
Karma! It happens!
It’s all in how you treat people.
For those who choose to view themselves as some sort of God of the blogosphere — what goes up surely must come down.
In as much as I hope for tremendous success with my own blogs, I hope and pray I never rise so high that I forget what it’s like to be humble.

Unfortunately, I think there are too many people on the net who really don’t care when they’ve hurt people’s feelings or been downright mean…
I’d say, be glad you realize what this person is really like! But it still hurts to know someone you once looked up to is a dog.

I had that same experience. Many very popular mombloggers can be brutal with someone who disagrees with them or questions them.
I just stop reading them.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who takes things like this seriously.
Back when I was eyeball deep in the racing world – I frowned on driver who would snub their fans too. The year I saw the fans being mistreated was the last year I visited the Indy track.
Doesn’t matter – sports figure or famed blogger, if you’re mean to your readers and fans, you’ll end up on the skids! As it should be.
Ok, I’m over it now LOL

I think that people on the net find it easier to let their mean side pop out because they are hidden behind their computer . . . . or so they think. It’s very sad when it is someone that you respected. You are right about Karma . . .It does happen. Maybe they will learn one day.
