Of course my favorite Halloween is going to be one as a mother. In fact, it was the first Halloween that my twins could walk and get around on their own and to really get the hang of saying “trick or treat” and realizing when they did so, they’d get CANDY!
Our first stop was at their Paternal Grandma’s house. She’s really a silly one and to this day the boys say she acts like a teenager.
Grandma had bought a mask and planned to wear it when the boys would knock on her door.
Of course Trey and Coty knew we were at Grandma’s house, so they ran to the door, anxious to show off their costumes (little hobo’s – see Coty’s jug?) – her front door was open, leaving only the storm door. She was waiting haunched down on the inside and as soon as they knocked, she popped up with the mask on, laughing.
They both started screaming and running in place. Their little legs wouldn’t move to get them to run AWAY…
The only way to get the boys to make up to Grandma after that was for her to get a broom and a mop and let the boys beat the mask that she threw on the floor.
Grandma still has the mask and brings it out each Halloween as we relive the boys first real halloween.
You can tell by the photo that they didn’t like the mask, not one little bit!
