Plush Puffs Gourmet Marshmallow: MomGadget Review

I’ll be straight with you all.

I hate marshmallows. Each year my husband goes into his own little happy place when Peeps go on sale. Me? I just try to keep from causing the ‘Clean-up on aisle 5′ alert from being announced. Seriously, I loathe the nasty things. I’m not sure of how to convey how much I can’t stand them without getting a video of my husband swearing on his Star Wars collection, that yes, indeed, Julie would rather consume anything but marshmallows. (this being a family friendly blog, we won’t list just what anything includes.)

So when I was contacted to try out Plush Puffs, I hesitated. Marshmallows? You have to be kidding. My husband and kids were not happy that my first thought was, “No way.” In their interest, I accepted the samples.

When the box arrived, I was surprised that there were several flavors to try. The kids were just happy that Mommy had a box of treats. Hubby was a little leery of the different flavors, he’d never had a marshmallow that was chocolate before. While giving the kids their treats to try out, I noticed just how soft these were. Not your typical rubbery/powdery feel. Actually, they were very soft.

Everyone looked so happy with theirs, I found myself doing the unthinkable. I bit one.

Amazingly, the world kept spinning on through space, but my view on marshmallows changed. I despise them-except for Plush Puffs. I sampled Chocolate Chipetta , Peppi-Mint, and Caramel Swirl. Yum, yum, and yum. They’re so soft and melt in the mouth so easily, I felt safe letting my 9 month old have one. Then he wanted more and turned into a sticky mess.

The website has recipes for marshmallows and I plan on trying some, but I’ll have to buy a big box if I plan on that. Between the kids and hubby, there will never be enough left to toast!

Check out the Plush Puffs website for recipes and more info here.

I’ve gotta admit, I’ve got a bit of a taste for just about anything with sugar – I even like candied ginger (but then, I’ll load so much ginger on my sushi that I don’t even taste the sushi, like I really need the rice – I should just eat the ginger…)

Every once in awhile, I would buy the, I think they were/are called Rocky Road candy bars. They were in red foil wrapper. While it would quench my desire for sugar, I always felt like I wasn’t getting my money’s worth, because it was so light with marshmallows.

I’m fat and heavy, so I equate the value of everything by weight – if it aint heavy, it aint worth much – LOL

I can sit down and devour a whole bag of marshmallows and I do like some recipes that call for marshmallows. However, these days, if it don’t come in a wrapper or someone doesn’t bake/cook it for me, anything that requires more than opening a package and tossing into the microwave for a few minutes – I’ve archived all my combining more than 2 ingredients at a time to the back of my brain.

I was wondering in your taste test process, was the flavor rich? Could your husband sit down and eat a whole bag in one sitting? With the word “gourmet” on the bag, I’m guessing they’re probably in the Almond Rocha price range.

I love the humor in your writing – and I’ve gotta tell ya – Lucas! What an adorable model!!!!!

You are Joy!

Hi Janet! Thanks for the compliments, I’m sitting here with a goofy grin on my face now.

The taste was really rich, nothing subtle or marshy-yuck about it. I hate to admit it, but my husband didn’t have a chance to down any. The kids tore through them like ravenous raptors. And, um…I hid the bag of caramel swirls and ate them late at night writing.

Their price isn’t too bad for a gourmet products. $5.99 for 16-18 plushies. You can buy ‘scrap’ bags, too, that are 1.75 lb and are $12.50 (usd).
