I’ve just finished reading Tending Roses by Lisa Wingate.My daughter presented me with this wonderful book to read on my flight back to Canada.
What an appropriate gift and perfect timing. I had been called home fearing that my mother was very near passing. While there my daughter and I got to know my mother as a young woman, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother sharing laughter as well as tears. We both came away with memories that will last a lifetime.
At the time I received the book little did I know what an impact it would have on me. This book would open my eyes, as well as my heart memories I’d long forgotten. Stories that had been handed down to me by a loving mother, and grandmother. Opening our eyes to the really important things in life, is only one of the lessons you will learn.
My wish is that everyone could read this inspiring book. Now more then ever the family units should remain close, books such as this might just set that in motion. The setting is on a farm in the Midwest where a granddaughter has gone to help put her grandmothers affairs in order so that the grandmother might be placed in a nursing home.
Coming from Chicago back to a place from her childhood had a much greater impact on the granddaughter then she could have ever realized. The wildflower book that would mysteriously show up at just the right moment with a great lesson learned will keep you in suspense longing for more.
This book will instigate a curiosity to ask questions that will keep those that we love living in our hearts for years to come. Thanks to my daughter – Gadget Mom for this wonderful treasure.
