I learned my lesson the hard way! Since I started grad school, I’d been saving and backing up all of my important files (papers, presentations, etc.) on a flash drive, which, as you might predict, died on me right before an important deadline. I then invested in a small external hard drive to secure my documents, but I’d love the chance to upgrade to the Seagate. Thanks for the chance to win!

Ugh! I bought a new computer but we couldn’t get the transferring to work so I spent days using a little thumb drive to transfer a bit at a time because I didn’t want to burn discs and add garbage to the landfill!

joan olson April 26, 2009 at 7:18 pm

Could have used to back up all my college papers (lost them all when computer crashed) If I win I would use it for everything I may someday want (pictures, papers, …) Gosh I used to take everything for granted on my computer.

Beth S. April 26, 2009 at 7:20 pm

I work remotely a lot and have data both at the office and at home. It would be really convenient to be able to easily pack it back and forth!

Mary B April 26, 2009 at 7:36 pm

I could use this for saving my graphics and picture files. I play around with graphic design on the computer and sometimes those files can be huge. I need to back up my work and burning them onto CD is not only a hassle but CD’s take up so much space when you start getting a large collection of them.

Thank you for the giveaway!

Jennifer C. April 26, 2009 at 7:42 pm

I could have used this when my cats decided to dump my external drive on the floor and destroy it. I’d like it to store photos on.

Terri Hooper April 26, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Oh, MY, What a perfect gift for my Mom! We had one house burn down and this would be perfect to store and back up all our family photo’s and family tree on. No more having to start over. In an emergency all we have to do is carry this with us. Thanks for the chance to win it.

when you work at home there is always a chance of a lightning strike or power outage that could damage you computer. It is truly a frightening thing when you come close to loosing all your work, contacts and info. The Seagate Free Agent would give me peace of mind.

I need an external hard drive to back up my laptop.

Steven April 26, 2009 at 9:53 pm

Backing up my important files to an external drive takes the hassle of backing up to a CD/DVD.

Annie G April 26, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Recently our backup storage died. Fortunately my husband was able to repair it, but we could use a new one for all our pictures, movies, and documents before the old one takes its actual last breath!

jamie April 26, 2009 at 10:29 pm

WOW! This would be great for all the photo scaning I want to do this summer. So many photos of family I’m buried in them.

Miaelkaye April 26, 2009 at 10:30 pm

I could have use the Free Agent Go Drive when I first began to write some stories and reports for a project I was working on. The computer that had these files was pretty old and eventually stopped working. Although I was able to recreate a lot of the work, a lot of time could have been saved if I literally had a backup.

Being in the Arm, we have moved numerous times & lose things along the way. I lost so many pictures from our wedding day. It bothers me so much that pictures I had cannot be replaced – it’s a one time thing for hubby & I! If I had a portable external harddrive I would not have had this problem & still could have my wedding day pictures.

Laura DeLuca April 26, 2009 at 11:20 pm

I wish I had this a few weeks ago. My old computer crashed and I lost all my photos. I will be much more careful this time around.

Jolene April 26, 2009 at 11:21 pm

I could have used something like this about 4 years ago. We were between homes and didn’t have our own computer with us so all pics we were taking were left on the card in the camera. All of a sudden our 200 pictures were no longer there, nothing had happened to the camera of the card, but for some reason the pics were all gone. After going to a camera shop we were told it just happens sometimes and there is nothing you can do, they are gone. We lost so many pictures, summer pictures, Christmas pictures, vacation pictures….all gone! So there’s several months of my kids lives that I have no pictures of :( .
So yes, I definitely could have used something like this then so we would have been able to just use someones computer to transfer our pics.

A power surge destroyed my laptop, and it’s hard drive while on a trip with my husband! If only I had backed up all the pics and video, I’d have more than hazy memories left of that trip!!

I really could have used this last summer before our hard drive crashed – then we would have had all our “important” files and directories saved apart

Collin April 27, 2009 at 12:46 am

I had a huge project ive been working on for like a month now, and two days before it was due our computers got some virus and they all stopped working. I didnt have a flash drive either, so this would have helped.

I recently got a virus on my PC, and I had to use discs to restore my PC to original settings to when it was brand new, and I lost all my info for the past 2 years, I really wish I had the Seagate Free Agent, it would have saved all my hard work.

Auriette April 27, 2009 at 3:52 am

I’d like to have portable storage, because in my work, I design a lot of large-file graphics, such as posters and brochures. I’d like to be able to easily save copies for my personal portfolio, and this portable drive would be a dream way to do it!

cathleen nash April 27, 2009 at 3:54 am

Oh yes, very useful when my memory stick for my digital camera runs out of space very frequently! I need somewhere permanent to store my photos so I can keep taking new ones and not have to worry about memory! Thanks!

Miranda April 27, 2009 at 4:06 am

I am in school right now, working on my Ph.D. and I would love to have this to store all of my written work, course content, assignments, etc. I had all of my Bachelors and Masters work on floppy disks, and those became obsolete. When finding a computer that had a floppy drive on it, at the local library, I found that many of my files were lost. I’m not sure if it was because of age, or damage from not being stored properly (I threw them in a junk drawer, yikes), but I surely could have used this device at that time in my life!

Tammy Kennedy April 27, 2009 at 5:20 am

I don’t have a extra portable hard drive. Just this Christmas my kids wanted their mp3 players to have different music put on them. Sadly my pc is bogged down with all their pictures and music, past school work as besides taking advanced classes at their schools they do advanced online school work, which is stored on my pc. Well my older son wanted to add his music to my pc because he doesn’t have a pc and lives 1200 miles away and his ipod went bad.
Needless to say my pc somehow crashed and we lost everything.
My daughters wedding pictures, my childrens, sports pictures, homework and over 10,000 songs.
So I really need a portable drive to take with me to start over trying to get items I’ve lost.

Thank you so much for the chance to win a vital item for my household.
