The Fairy Chronicles – A MomGadget Review

When I was asked to review two Fairy books, I jumped at the chance.

I have two little girls that love fairies, so much that they leave tiny bowls outside with water and sometimes flowers for them. Yes, we believe in the magical world of the tiny little emps. Which means, if I had said no and those two found outwell I’d be the MEAN, MEAN Mom. I accepted! The children eagerly awaited the arrival of the books.

The day the books arrived, I opened the package and smelled the books. There’s even something magical about the scent of a new Fairy book. After much ooing and ahhing over the beautifully illustrated cover we all snuggled in to begin our adventure that would allow us to embark on a journey where each fairy has a specific name, wand, mentor and gift that’s been bestowed upon them by Mother Nature. The ultimate lesson throughout this journey is “inside you is the power to do anything.”

At the end of each book anxious little readers can enjoy extra fun pages: Fairy Fun and Fairy Facts.

I’ll be honest with ya, I loved the story myself! Even laughed through several parts and can wait to begin reading “Dragonfly and the Web of Dreams,” with my kids.

Fairy Facts: Some interesting fairy facts on your beloved fairies that mezermize your child and draw them into the world of these amazing little fairies all the more.

Now on to the review.

Title: The Fairy Chronicles: Marigold and the Feather of Hope, the Journey Begins

Author: J.H. Sweet

Ages: 7-12 Pages: 120

Beth Parish is understandably shocked when her aunt Evelyn explains that she is a “Marigold Fairy.” Any 9-year old would have a hard time believing that, but imagine what she must think as she watches her own, crazy aunt turn into a Monarch Fairy. Beth must figure out what life will be like as a fairy and if she really wants that life. Beth becomes a beautiful fairy, is given a magical wand and even a magical book that when handed over to another fairy it changes. This book will never let you read anything that you aren prepared for, however it’ll tell you what to look up in order to help you out. Beth meets other fairy girls (Thistle, Firefly and Dragonfly) like herself, each one has a special look, wand and talent. In this story, the fairy girls and Peanut (Marigold dog) must help the Brownies get back the Feather of Hope from the Gremlins before all is lost. Can they do it? “Inside you is the power to do anything.” This is such a wonderful message for children to read. I say children because while this book may be for little girls, boys can read it too. Trust me, I know because my son did.

The kids’ review on “Marigold and the Feather of Hope, The Journey Begins (The Fairy Chronicles, Book 1)“:

I think it is a very good book and interesting. I think other kids should read this because it gives you good ideas and you can actually imagine things, especially when Brownie told them about the Gremlins took the feather of hope. It was descriptive and showed me what the story was about. I would like to read the second book because the first one got me hooked and I want to know what else happens. – SoccerBoy, age 10

I think it is good! When Aunt Evelyn told Beth that they were fairies, I wished I was too. I like this book because I like fairies and there are fairies in there. But I don like the gremlins because they are mean. I want to read more fairy books to find out what happens. I like fairies. -Katerina, age 6

I like fairies. I want to be a fairy like Beth. -Isabella, age 3

We reviewed these too – my girls love them and can’t wait to work on the rest of the series over the summer.
