Todd English should be ashamed of himself for endorsing this product. They are the worst “non-stick” cookware I have ever used. I followed GreenPans instructions to the letter as to ‘seasoning’ and caring for them but it didn’t make any difference at all. I never even took these pans near the temperatures they say they will stand.

Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money on GreenPans. You will find better nonstick cookware in the discount aisle of any grocery store. Yeah..they are that bad.

ed May 14, 2009 at 3:03 pm

The pans aren’t all they’re hyped up to be-actuallly they’re terrible, however it’s probably better than teflon. I’m going back to the real steel. Also The reviewer of the pan should stick to what she knows-which doesn’t sound like much. The reviewer, Gayla, chooses to start off by saying that she’s sitting on the fence about global warming. If you’re so concerned about the welfare of your children, as you state, then maybe you should err on the side of caution instead of ingnoring the abundance of facts from people who study it and not petrolium companies who have vested interests. Yes, the news and future prognosis for climate change do seem dire (all th more reason) but that’s no reason to bury your head in the sand you stupid nimrod-actually you should do humanity a favor and dig a large hole in the sand and bury your whole self sooner rather than later so people who want to make a positive change in the world will have a better chance, thanks.

I purchased a Green Pan from Target, was absolutely thrilled for the first few weeks. I could use little or no oil, egg would just slide off and it caramelized onions perfectly. Then even with a little Grape seed oil (not spay) it began to stick. Now the finish is scratching and i can promise I have only used teflon utensils on the pan. This has all evolved within one month, I want to get my money back as this pan is not going to last. Would never waste my money again, cast ion is my only healthy answer.

Brent May 24, 2009 at 6:17 pm

Bought one small pan at Target for over $30. Followed all instructions before using it the first time. After 1 month no matter what food or oil etc. I used everything sticks no matter what. Even the oil burns on and cannot remove the stain. These pans SUCK.

maricar May 28, 2009 at 12:43 pm

I COULD NOT BELIEVE I GOT SUCKERED AGAIN! this great piece of shit is a total waste of money! It looked impressive on the AFC add so i went to landmark makati and bought a pan and a caserole, i was impressed at first use and then after that everything i cook sticks on it! Then i found out this is another product of Home Shoppine Network, Great! the network for D grade products! and reading Gayla’s review to this pieace of CRAP is just infuriating! she knows that this product is a piece of shit but still she went on writing good review. Shame on you! And you should consult your conscience!

Nancy Rosman July 12, 2009 at 9:38 pm

The Green Pan is dreadful. You can’t even flip a fried egg, because it sticks so badly that the yolk runs all over the pan. And then it sticks too. For the first three weeks, they were great pans. We followed all instructons. And now we are really disgusted with them. What a complete rip-off! One good thing: all the stuck-on food washes off easily. The oil stains never come out, but the food does. But if it didn’t stick so badly in the first place, it wouldn’t have to clean up so well! DO NOT waste your money. I wouldn’t even GIVE these to anyone.

amy July 18, 2009 at 1:05 pm

When my husband and I found these pans on an incredible sale at a store that was closing, we were thrilled. We bought both the sauce pan and frying pan sets. For the first month or so we were thrilled. You could cook in the pans and then basically wipe them clean. Then suddenly the pans started to stick and stick horribly. We have had the pans for about 6 months and we HATE them. The fry pans are absolute crap. The sauce pans aren’t bad but then boiling water doesn’t require much technology. Do not waste your money on these pans, they are not worth the cardboard they are packed in.

Todd English Green Pan Reviewer August 23, 2009 at 4:39 pm

We have actually been testing this product in our test kitchen for 3 weeks now. Some days we use it up to 3 times a day! We have not experienced any of these problems yet. The only thing we noticed was the handle heated up about 4 inches down from the tip. We are going to continue our testing to see if we can get these same problems.

Waste of money and time, use the old fashion cast iron pans, they are non stick and las a lot longer, I wish I had saved my money! If I ever get a chance to go to one of Todd English’s restaurant I will make sure they know he endorsed garbage! I wonder how many pans it took them to find some that actually worked on camera the way they were supposed to work…lol

I was SO excited when I got the box and opened them up.. beautiful pans. Just gorgeous. I showed all my friends, my mom..

Worked flawlessly for the first month then slowly started sticking more and more. Suddenly everything I cooked in it, ANYTHING.. would burn and stick. Even on medium heat. And STAIN. The beautiful grey coating became covered with burnt on yellow and brown.

Now its impossible to clean, completely stained… and I got rid of all my old cookwear after the 3rd week because I loved them so much.

I want my money back. I’m going back to old school cast iron. Seasoned they are as non-stick as anything and a breeze to clean.

Green Pan is a SHAM.

Ruth September 25, 2009 at 2:20 pm

Fry some bologna at high heat and watch it burn on the sides and will
not wipe off as they show you. I tried everything and it wouldn’t come
off. Still used the pans but then yesterday after cooking scrambled eggs
that somehow left a yellow coating on pan similar to the burned on stuff
I got mad and brought out some baking soda and a brush and it ALL cleaned
right off. Hope I haven’t hurt the pan, but I couldn’t believe that
just frying bologna would leave the sides burned. I know, I know, I
shouldn’t be eating bologna, but boy, do I love that sometimes.

Keith October 2, 2009 at 3:47 pm

This pan simply does not work as advertised.

Allison October 25, 2009 at 7:38 pm

My mom gave me these pans as a housewarming present a few years ago. I haven’t had the heart to throw them out yet, but they are TERRIBLE! For the first couple of weeks they were nonstick. I was careful about cooking temperatures, utensils, and even handwashing. (I don’t even hand wash clothes!) They are stained and everything sticks to them. How this company has been allowed to continue to peddle these as ‘nonstick’ pan is unbelieveable!

Peter November 10, 2009 at 12:43 pm

First I also checked Greenpan in Target, but they were too light weight for me. I bought 2 heavy Greenpans here in Crate Chicago about 1 year ago. Apparently they have a lot of different ranges available. When I read the comments here, I assume that HSN is only selling the cheaper, less quality items. That’s probably why I am not an HSN shopper…
Anyway, after 1 year my frypans are holding up great. They still function PERFECT and fry and sear like no other pan. I have to say, I do not put them in the dishwasher, I never do with cookware.

Matthew November 18, 2009 at 4:11 pm

I purchased 2 Greenpans after deciding it was time to get rid of the Teflon in my kitchen. Seriously, the poor reviews that are posted are the honest ones. I feel cheated for having purchased this cookware. The first time I used it I was quite pleased. Its non-stick performance wasn’t the best and I had to scrub it a little to remove a few stains but in just the space of just a few repeated uses, it got worse and worse. The Thermolon coating also chips off – no abuse necessary. Greenpan sticks, stains and it is hard to clean.

singer 77 November 25, 2009 at 6:43 pm

very, very, very, very bad cookware. what a rip-off. everything sticks. and as far as your comments about using cooking oil, one of the big HSN hypes about this pan is that you DON’T NEED TO USE ANY COOKING OIL. whatever…….

Debra December 3, 2009 at 4:46 pm

Like everyone else the pans worked for a month or so. Now I need a grenade to get them clean. This is so sad.

Disappointed, Debra

Phillip December 6, 2009 at 7:41 pm

About the only thing that doesn’t stick to the pan is water – oh, and oil, which is what I’m trying to avoid using. Seriously, this pan has not worked as advertised since the first day I used it. It is actually worse for the environmetn because now I have to buy 2 pans to get the job done!

Susan December 13, 2009 at 11:21 pm

There must be some way to stop the sale of these pans, or to at least warn people before they buy them. Maybe a morning news show or something. I agree with all of the negative comments and had the same experiences. We are poverty level income and spent what is a lot for us to buy what we thought was good quality. A month after purchase we had to purchase a different pan because Green pan failed so miserably. A year later we still have the Green pan we purchased in case we find the avenue to advertise to everyone the proof of why not to buy. Whenever I look at it or see the endless shows selling pan after pan I just want to scream. Very expensive lesson for us.

Sharon Richman December 26, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Beware of the rivets on Green Pans. After more than a year of using an 8″ Green Pan frying pan, the rivet cap on the inside of the pan exploded off while sauteeing leeks. It hurled across the kitchen missing the head of a guest and a window more than 8 feet away from the stove top! I’m waiting for a reply from the place of purchase. Be careful!

Dorothy renner December 28, 2009 at 7:39 pm

My husband got me a set of green pans for my birthday, and I like them so much that I got my daughter and daughter-in-law some pans for gifts. I followed all the directions (hand-wash, season before using) but now the large fry pan sticks with some things, such as eggs. I feel misled, and I would like to return the pans.
Does anyone know if this is possible after a year?

I thought it must have been be I was always reading positvie reviews on these pans on the HSN web site. I have to tell you all DON’T BUY THEM
at first they were good then everything started to stick … I hAVE NO DISHWASHER… I DONT USE ANYTHING BUT SOAPY WATER TO WASH THEM.. so I then thought i would have to season them every so often so i did that every 3 or 4th time i used them… same result GARBGE

Paula from Only Cookware January 12, 2010 at 8:02 pm

It’s a shame there are so many bad reviews for this cookware. So called ‘green’ pans are relatively new to the market and like anything, they will take a bit of work to get right. I think over time they will develope into something worth owning but at this stage it’s not looking good.

Sharon January 13, 2010 at 5:59 pm

I’ve been using these pans for a year. I can’t believe all the bad reviews. I have seen so many good ones and I wonder what could cause the disparity? These are the best pans I have ever cooked with. They head food evenly, cook food evenly, and are a breeze to clean. If you are really following the instructions “to the T” you should not be having all the problems commented on here.

Sharon January 13, 2010 at 6:01 pm

Obviously I meant “heat” not “head” in the previous comment, but we all know that some people read posts, see any spelling errors, and then use them to attack the commenter, totally missing the point of the post.

Rozpruty January 16, 2010 at 8:33 am

Just found an 8″ Greenpan at Salvation Army thrift store for $2, for its metal handle to use with wood-gas stove experimenting. After lots of soaking and elbow grease managed to remove carbon deposits. Looks as though someone just got behind on scrubbing but continued to use it. What is left is uneven brown staining over a light grey. More soaking and increasingly aggressive scrubbing. From soaking with vinegar to plastic scrubbies with soap, to Soft Scrub, to 3M pads, to Ajax bleaching abrasive powder, to industrial floor stripping pad with GoJo handcleaner with pumice. It IS possible to see the grey under the brown stains. But it’s not worth it, and bright aluminum is beginning to show through. Won’t be showing my find to the wife. My advice: get the heaviest aluminum pan you can find with anodized coating. Have one from a hotel/restaurant supply 20 years ago, perfect for that super-hot searing.

I love your website, Gayla, and am grateful for all of the comments here. I, like many people, would also think the seal of approval would stand for something. Back when I was a kid (that was awhile back) the seal usually meant the item went through rigorous testing, and that seal was not honored until it passed. I guess times have changed.

This is why I am so grateful to others who aren’t afraid to share in their (unfortunate) experiences so that others may not have to face the same fate. My nonstick cookware is coming to an end, too, and so I was wondering what else was available that may be better when I come to replace them.

Deborah Brouhard January 22, 2010 at 2:13 am

Wonder why those of you who purchased from HSN don’t report this to the customer reviews section. Maybe if more people spoke up HSN would have to trash it. I got the frying pan set but didn’t open it until recently and find it OK, but eggs did stick. I ordered a different set but just might return as I don’t want to wait 3-4 months and find it becoming non-stick. I really just want a stove top grill that isn’t too big –for 1-2 steaks. Have the Command Performance stainless steel and really love it but wanted something nonstick.

Deborah Brouhard January 22, 2010 at 3:14 am

Went to Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval page and see that if any product they give their seal of approval to is defective they will refund the purchase price. All of you who are really dissatisfied with the green pans might check into it. Even if you don’t get your money back the fact that so many may be asking for refunds might prompt them to revisit their review and retest the products. I’m sure they will want to know why and not everyone could have misused the product. Here is the link but you can find it under Kitchen and cookware. Then maybe each of you can ask them if they sell their approval which I’m sure will piss them off. HSN is right their on their page for who has their approval. The link is: http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/product-testing/seal-holders/about-good-housekeeping-seal.

Judy Rogers January 23, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I have been cooking for 35 years and this is the worst pan I’ve ever used. The non-stick surface is wonderful for about a month, and then everything sticks. I have a frying pan with egg residue welded to the bottom that will not come off with any amount of soaking. Even with gentle use, the interior and exterior coatings are chipped and scratched. HSN directs complaints to Ingenious Designs. I have left several messages with no response.

Jessie Strickland January 27, 2010 at 5:51 pm

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I bought a set from HSN an then I got a couple pieces to add to it, I have 10 to 15 pieces. I have used one pan to do all my frying after a few months everything sticks to it I have about three to four hundred dollars in this junk the pan will not come clean on the inside or out side. I called ingenious designs just to get push off so I called HSN were I got it from to be told they would not do anything after 30 days stay away from this mess no good.

Kathy in SLC February 15, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I was excited about these pans because I have a little bird and teflon can be toxic to them. I followed all of the instructions (oiling the pan after every application of dish soap) and, just like everyone else, found that the pan stained and food stuck (eggs!!!!) very badly after about one month of use. This is a giant rip-off.

Brian March 29, 2010 at 9:37 am

Been seeing a lot of complaints about Green Pan products since I’ve been doing some research for my girlfriend who is shopping for new pans. I have a 12″ pan from the stockholm collection and the 1.5qt Todd English pot and have been using them for over a year. They’ve worked fabulously for me and are by the far the easiest to clean, I barely have to use a sponge.

I DO cook only vegan meals so maybe that has something to do with it? I don’t cook chicken or make eggs (I see sticking eggs mentioned frequently). For my cooking though, they work flawlessly.

Lee Box April 6, 2010 at 2:38 am

I agree, this is the worst cookware I have used in along time. Todd English must be getting paid well to endorse such a crappy product. I followed directions, I had to send the first set back as it deteriorated quickly, food started sticking, hard to clean. They replaced it with another set, not the one origanally ordered and not the same color. It too quickly became a disaster. If shopping for cookware, KEEP LOOKING!

Robb April 9, 2010 at 12:43 am

I bought a big skillet in November. Whoohoo it was great. I did the watch this nothing sticks to it with pancake mix. I treated it with oil like they said. I always hand-wash it. But one day I seared chicken breasts in it. Brown irremovable stain. I scrubbed and scrubbed. Then I tried to cook pancakes in it a few days later. This pan is now crap. I have an old thermospot pan that I could cook an egg better in. That’s a lot of money for a piece of junk.

Ray Beck April 9, 2010 at 6:25 pm

These Green Pans should be used for research in developing a new glue.
No matter how you careful you follow the care instructions the pan will eventually grab egg and oil and bake it on the surface so even after boiling water in it the egg and stain remain.

dontbuygreenpan April 10, 2010 at 8:08 pm

BEWARE of the Green Pan!!!!! After only one month everything except for oil and water stick! At first true, I could do carmel, cheese, even eggs would slide off. Now? The clean up is horrendous, oil burns and stays on the coating, it’s chipping, despite not using it at high temps, seasoning it propertly, washing by hand and only using rubber utensils. If you see Joy Mangano, runnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!! Todd English PLEASE for the love of god stick to cooking! I just threw this Green Pan skillet in the trash. I’ve had enough! Going back to Calphalon or cast iron!

Shamus April 12, 2010 at 4:55 am

After the first use, I thought the Green Pan was great; however, after the second use, everthing sticks. The pan is not level and food cooks unevenly. I have always washed the pan by hand and never abused it. What a waster of money!

sean April 14, 2010 at 2:08 am

These pans are absolute shit! I’ll say it again: Shit. I’ve never bought anything from the television; I doubt I will again. I bought them, and they turned to shit in two months. No receipt, so I lose. If you’re wondering what I think of them, well, they’re shit.

replica wallet April 30, 2010 at 7:23 am

Obviously I meant “heat” not “head” in the previous comment, but we all know that some people read posts,

JillieB April 30, 2010 at 4:30 pm

I bought a green pan frying pan about four or five months ago. Like most of the above posts, I was careful with it. Tried not to use overly high heat. Washed by hand in warm, soapy water. Oiled it after use – only used olive oil as I know vegetable oil can ruin non-stick surfaces. Didn’t make any difference. Now everything sticks and it is very stained. Was glad to read the above commentaries since I thought I must have screwed up somehow. too bad. It started as a really nice pan and I was happy with it.

Jen May 8, 2010 at 8:50 pm

We were just given one of these pans as a gift. We haven’t used it yet, but obviously I’m not too optimistic. Does anyone know where I can get the instructions for seasoning these pans? The one we were given did not come with packaging, or instructions. I don’t want to start using it, and end up with all these same problems, because we didn’t season it right.

i love to eat asian foods because they are tasty and spicy.“~

Tina Westover June 24, 2010 at 5:14 pm

I purchased one skillet on HSN, just to try it out but was sure it would turn out to be the same as every other pan that claims to be “non-stick”. Once I got it I followed the instructions and seasoned it, then the whole family tried it out with cheese, carmel, marshmallows, fired eggs…every super sticky thing we could think of…and WOW was I happy to find that it worked like a dream! NOTHING stuck to it…for a while. Then, like a lot of other people have said things started to stick. Just a little at first. I thought “ok maybe it was my fault, maybe I tured it up to high”. Try again, lower temp and a little oil…still sticking. More oil..nope still sticking. Now my husband is telling me “this thing is crap, send it back!” But still I SO wanted to like this pan so I gave it another chance, and another and another until it was too late to return it. Now more than a year later I hate it! Everything sticks so bad you get torn up food and a burned mess to clean up. It cleans ok if you do a little scrubbing but that’s not the point. The idea is not to have to scrape your food off in bits and then scrub the pan…I could do that with a much cheaper pan! So maybe the only good thing about this pan is that it’s “green”….. but it works exactly the same as the “toxic” non-stick pans!! Too bad. Maybe someday they’ll get it right but I doubt I’ll want to buy another one.

Bruce Barton June 30, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I fixed my green pan. I took 2 table spoons of Gas Grate Cleaner that I bought at Sears (Elco Laboratories GGC-300), put it in to the square grill pan, filled the pan with hot water and let it sit for 24 hrs. Next I scrubbed the pan with a plastic scouring pad, mine was on the back of my sponge. Wash and rinse. The pan works like it did when I first got it.

I replaced my nearly worn teflob with these and i have been disappointed. as so many others have said, min did well for about a month. then something stuck and it’s been worse and worse since. I don’t have anything to lose by trying the suggestion froom above.
