Toshiba Portable Hard Drive – MomGadget Giveaway

by Gayla Baer

External Hard DriveToday, more than ever, we have each accumulated a large amount of personal and business-related software programs, pictures, original document files, videos and precious memories on our computer hard drives.  Whether you have a laptop or a desktop, a Mac or a PC, the Toshiba 500GB external hard drive can help you to protect yourself and your computer from the loss of your valuable collection.

According to research by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), adults online create an average of 1,800 digital files a year, for a total of 310 billion files created annually in the United States alone. Yet nearly half of all digital content creators do not have a second copy of these valued digital files. Without a backup solution, cherished family photos, critical financial documents, work presentations and countless other digital data files are at risk for loss. A single computer crash could destroy everything.

I was one of these aforementioned creators with no current back up until yesterday!  I realized that I had a faulty CD burner on my PC a few weeks ago and with all the heart-felt writing my computer helps me with everyday, I was feeling quite uncomfortable with the thought of no system back up.  I thought an opportunity to try this type of product was perfect timing since I was in the market for a solution.  After giving this product a trial run and seeing just how simple it is to use, I have decided it is definitely on my shopping list and on my holiday gift list for my sister as well.  I really like the sleek & glossy design plus the color selection of Liquid Blue, Vivid White, Rocket Red and Komodo Green (my favorite color).  It’s small enough to slide right into your pants pocket, purse or laptop bag.

It took just a few minutes to completely create a full system back up along with all my personal files & folders.  I tested out the restore capability to make sure it had my back.  (I’m typically a bit skeptical to trust every piece of technology out there today.)  I created a test file which I included in the back up.  Then, I deleted it completely from my computer.  I was able to restore it in one quick step right back to where it belonged.   So, the restore test scored an A+ in my book and Toshiba has earned my trust with their innovation!  I realize my personal reason for wanting a portable hard drive will differ from  yours, most likely; but now you know there is a solution available whatever your data storage needs may be.

I would use this to backup my computers – storing our financial data, pictures, gadget software and music. I have lost three hard drives in the last ten years (including my external backup) and know how important it to keep multiple copies of all files.

We have so many photos and videos of our three kids with their deceased Pop Pop that we are always in fear of losing.

A portable HD will help keep everything that I have safe and secure if my computer ever fails to power up again. That way I dont lose any personal or professional information. And winning a sweepstakes would be the perfect way to get one!

Thanks for the giveaway…I have tons of old family photos scanned into my computer that are awaiting a systematic cataloging (i.e. when I get a chance it do it !), so a Toshiba 500GB external hard drive would add a layer of security for them, as well as the many family & work documents that I have.

Kim Parrott November 15, 2009 at 4:04 am

I have pictures and home videos to protect.
I know the value of security – I am in the process of reformatting a laptop infected with a virus – lost ALL data. Luckily the most important stuff was backed up but there is still some loss. I will be looking at a Toshiba Portable Hard Drive as a Christmas gift to save myself from the hassles I’m encountering right now!

Thanks for the contest!

An external hard drive is a saving grace when a pc decided to freez up ord dies. We hve lost data & pics in the past and certanily don’t want it to happen again! I enjoy taking college courses online so it would be a fantstic idea to save my school material to the external hard drive.
