Someone please correct me if I’m wrong – but it seems to me the level of follow then immediately unfollowing is on the rise.
Is that not the only way for people to receive notice that you are following them then you can quickly unfollow and perhaps they won’t pay attention when they click the email notice of you following them?
Does that make sense?
I occasionally get a notice of a Twitter follow – when I go to click the link in my email – I notice there’s no link for me to message the person. That pretty much means they are no longer following me, correct?
Unless a person is of ultra high caliber celebrity status and have a baZillion followers on Twitter, don’t expect me to follow if I don’t have the option of sending you a private message.
To me that’s just rude and a pretty pathetic way of scamming followers to look all important. Bleh
What are some of the twitter practices that rub you the wrong way?

Gayla,
Yes, that is rude. Those that follow and immediately unfollow are either bots or people simply trying to achieve some level of status.
I don’t immediately follow someone who follows me. I know I can’t handle a lot of updates and still really know (on some level) the people I follow. So I have a lot more followers than those I follow. Of course, many people who follow are nothing but spammers.
For real people, to follow and unfollow is rude.

I really hate it when those stupid “Get a free laptop!!!” twitter accounts follow me. You know they’ll just be banned shortly and I’ve spent my time clicking their account to see if they’re a “real” person. Or should I say, WASTED my time.
