As much as I try to keep most controversial topics off MomGadget, I’m faced with a very unsettling situation in my personal life – one that I believe NEEDS to be talked about. If for no other reason, my own personal defense against the crisis my family is facing.
You see, because my husband suffers from bipolar disorder (that is currently being treated properly) and depression, our insurance is currently conducting an investigation as to whether or not we have to pay back nearly a years worth of treatment that my husband received. We’ll know just before Christmas, the result of the investigation.
My husband is a Gulf War Veteran and many of the problems he suffers with date back to the first few months of post war.
My mother urged me to get Michael Moore’s ‘Sicko’ and watch it to see if there weren’t similarities to our own situation.
I’ll be posting my own review of the entire movie very soon, but would like to receive comments from those who have seen the film and what you’re thoughts are.
Lastly, if you live in another country outside the U.S., I’d love to hear what your health care is genuinely like versus what our government would rather us see.
If you’d rather email me privately, please use the contact form listed above.

Moore exagerates a little about the Canadian health care system. People see a doctor much easier in Canada but the expertise is much better in the United States. As a doctor, I can tell you that treating a condition before you get worse is much better than getting the “best” treatment for the same illness a few weeks after the condition has spread.
