VholdR Contour HD Camcorder

I recently had the opportunity to review the VholdR Contour HD Wearable Camcorder by Twenty20.

This Contour HD is the first and lightest HD Helmet Camera.  It’s made for the active lifestyle but I wasn’t going skiing, snowboarding or biking so I used it as a handheld in the backyard with my puppies.

Since this is made to be mounted on a helmet, automobile or worn on goggles there’s no viewfinder so I just aimed in the general direction of my puppies and it worked great.  You can shoot in HD or SD mode but I used HD to get the full benefits.

To get the video to your computer you can install the Vholdr desktop from the Micro SD Card included with the camcorder or download it from their website.  Once you import the clip you can edit, save, email or share on the Contour HD Video Community.

The VholdR Contour HD Camcorder comes with a flat surface mount for helmets and automobiles, a goggle mount, Micro SD Card, USB adapter and battery.

The VholdR Contour HD retails for $249.99 but I did see it on Amazon for less.

Garmin Motorcycle Mount January 4, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Hi the HD Camcorder looks great, I was just wondering if it would work well mounted to a motorcycle, would the vibration be an issue or is there some kind of built in stabilizer?

Your response would be great as I could promote it as an option on my site Garmin Motorcycle Mount

Garmin Motorcycle Mount……..I didn’t see anything about a built in stabilizer but their website does say it can be mounted on handlebars. Here’s the link to different videos on their site, maybe you can tell from viewing them if the camera has what you’re looking for. http://www.vholdr.com/

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. They seemed to be responsive when I had a question so I’m sure if you contacted them they’d be able to answer your question. http://www.vholdr.com/company/contact

Wow looks like a fun toy. :) I was hooked into watching some downhill skiing videos after yours so it looks like it is pretty stable with motion.

Another useful gadget is the Flip UltraHD Camcoder. It combines Flip Video’s signature shoot-and-share simplicity with the power of vivid, vibrant HD video. Power on and press record to start capturing incredible HD video in seconds. When its time to share your video, use the flip-out USB arm to connect to any PC or Mac and launch built-in FlipShare editing and video-sharing software.

My husband and I were just talking last night about getting our son one of these to wear when he’s skateboarding and doing his bmx freestyle. We thought that would be so cool. I was happy to read this review. I’m going to have to look and check this out.

I have to agree with the other comments. The Flip camcorders are very nice and affordable. I just purchased the Flip UltraHD and love it.

The problem with helmet mounts if if it goes wrong…and by it,i mean you fall off trying something clever to film!! then the cameras a gonna.

you can get a bike mounted one tho, or at least a mount to put your old “i can afford to break this” video camera on.

take a look at brandedbiker, less than £50 too

That’s a cool little camera Cathy. I always wondered how they got those action shots. I have a Flip Ultra camcorder myself and I love how compact it is, and the fact that it has a USB plug that you just plug into your computer when you’re ready to download from the video camera. I did see; however, a camera once, I think a Sony that had a lens that you could flip over if you wanted to. This would allow you to video tape yourself as you talk. I thought that was pretty cool. Thanks for the recommendation. Paul

Make sure to check out the Oregon Scientific action cams too before you buy one. I prefer these to the Contours…just my two cents!
