Vroom Solo- A MomGadget Review

Out of sight, out of mind

You’re probably wondering what can be so special about a vacuum. We’ve all got at least one, maybe a tiny hand held collecting more dust that it sucks up, hidden in the broom closet.

Seriously- this vacuum is not your typical hand held, though it does deliver the on-demand ease of one. Vroom Solo is essentially a central vacuum unit for those of us without a central vacuum. It fits under a cabinet, perhaps under the kitchen sink, and the hose is long enough to reach around the whole room.

I love how compact it is. If you release the hose it automatically reels itself back into the containment unit. No wrapping, no tripping, just let go and whoosh! It’s stored completely out of the way. The dust collection bag and vacuum unit is separate from the hose storage, which means you can purchase the Vroom alone (the hose part) or the hose unit and the central vacuum unit together (Vroom Solo).

Mine came in two boxes. The UPS guy just looked at me when he dropped it off and said, “Good grief, all you ever get is heavy stuff!” I know, I know…he’s on my Christmas list. Probably a case of Tylenol for his back.

After the kids and I lugged the boxes into the kitchen, I spent the next half hour opening, unwrapping, reading, then installing the thing. The actual install took about ten minutes. You have to do a bit of wiring, but it’s nothing intimidating. You literally twist two sections of wires together, then twist on plastic end caps. Pop into the spot you want- you’re done.

I took mine for a test spin as soon as I had chosen the perfect spot. I left mine in the open, beside the wine rack/microwave cart. From there, with the hose (which is 24 foot!!), I was able to vacuum the kitchen, bathroom, and the two children’s rooms. Here in Buffalo it seems that every room is right off of the kitchen-silly floor plans.

The extendable wand is my favorite feature-aside from the suction on this thing. Never in my cleaning experiences have I witnessed so much suction power from a vacuum unit. I told my husband that I could probably suck up cobwebs from our neighbors house. (*note: you cannot really do such a thing, but, man...)

To say that I am thrilled with this unit is an understatement. The Vroom Solo does have one big negative. The bag and section holding the bag is tiny. For full house and serious vacuuming you would need quite a few. The bags are about a third of the size of a normal vacuum. I am hoping that the Vroom company will make larger bags and an extender for the bag unit/holder someday.

Until then, I’ll just have to live with the small bags, which really isn’t that hard.

The Vroom Solo retails at $399 USD  Find out more here: Vroom Your Room

I wrote an article similar to this one on my blog about industrial products and equipment. But since you have a
better grasp of this subject I will link to your blog instead. Good work on this.
