When Substitutions Won’t Do

Surely I’m not the only person on the planet who has specific product brands they stick to. It’s ok to sometimes sway over to generic or alternative brands on some things, but I have my limits, that’s for sure.
Me being the kind of girls Girl that I am, I have to prove a valuable point here. Dear husband says it’s ok to buy off brands of everything – I say it’s not!
Some things and brands I stick to no matter what are:
Kraft Mac and Cheese – it truly is the cheesiest.
Charmin – I became a loyal follower of Mr. Whipple at a very early age.
Dial Soap
Oil of Olay or Bath and Body Works body wash
Paul Mitchell hair products – my hair is my crown
Canada Dry Ginger Ale
Starbucks Coffee
Lipton Tea
Crest toothpaste
When it comes to jeans, I’m a Levi’s girl!
I won’t put my tootsies in cheap shoes.
I wear only Clinique makeup
There’s a small portion of my shopping list as it pertains to name brands. What’s on your list?
Now, am I being unreasonable in my demands for quality products?

I was just thinking about this today. I have a pair of Levi jeans that I purchase in August that already have a whole in the pocket. I have Old Navy Jeans that I have had for five years that are still in great shape, minus the fading. Now, which ones will I purchase next time?
And, despite the fact that I try to save money and have tried my hardest to cut coupons I am a brand person too.
I suppose it’s all one’s priorities, but I think I’m more loyal to brands for expensive items, like Apple or Samsung. For cheaper stuff, I am decidedly average except for one brand of whole wheat bread: Alvarado Street bread.
I’m with you on Starbucks… Hate their coffee, love their lattes.
I’m really pretty flexible about other things… If you don’t try them, how do you know what you have is that great… I try to do this with my four year old son at dinner also
I’m very particular as well. You’re not alone. Only, I sway more towards everything being natural and organic.
My must haves:
Haagen Daaz Coffee ice cream.
Peet’s lattes
Jasons peppermint toothpaste
Jasons shampoo and conditioner
And of course, I have to be loyal to my own products. I only use my own bath and body products. Call me biased. What can I say…

Oh your list looks like mine, minus the makeup as I still have some that I reviewed recently and will definitely stick to mineral. (expensive yes but good)
Another thing is noodles, hubby tried buying store name the other day. Umm, NEVER AGAIN.
Hair care is pantene, I learned that it makes the hair so nice and silky and with long and thick hair like mine I need something with some quality. Those cheap .99 bottles just didn’t do my hair justice 10 years ago.
Starbucks fraps all the way, venti carmel frap. Oh and now I’m also a Sheridan’s Frozen Custard, forget drive thru shakes. lol.
Chocolates, must be russell stover or godiva. Yep, I’m becoming a chocolate snob now. What girl isn’t.
Kraft, Jello, Hunt’s, Kellogg’s, etc. Yep I’m a brand girl, no matter how hard hubby tries to go cheap.
It absolutely has to be Kraft Mac & Cheese (preferably spirals), real Oreo brand cookies, Speed Stick, Polaner Jelly, Thomas English muffins, Hanes socks.
Man, I’m getting picky in my old age.
OH I forgot about Oreo – there are NO other sandwich cookies that stack up
I got to agree with you there…some things can’t be replaced. I often buy no name brands but there are some I won’t dare buy that way.
Kraft Mac & Cheese
Pull-UPs
Heinz Ketchup
Miracle Whip
And a million others
I have certain products that I prefer one brand over the other also:
Hellmans mayonaisse and Pepsi (no other soda) to name a few.
oh I’m miracle whip, can’t touch the other stuff.
Mountain Dew and WordPress
Olaz daycream and Lóreal mascara, can’t live without them. And I’m with you on the Kraft Mac & Cheese; no other brand comes even close.
