Yubo Lunch Boxes

The lunch box by yubo is sturdy, eco-friendly and weighs a ton. The day after receiving the product, my eight-year-old was excited to take it on a class field trip. I thought it would be a good chance to get some feedback from the other kids as well as to see how it stood up against being knocked around by a bunch of second graders. As my daughter filled the sandwich and two smaller containers with her selections, we loved how they neatly packed into the box with the included icepack – until we tried to pack a spoon. There was no room for a utensil and still have the lid snap shut so she packed the spoon along in a baggie in her backpack. I had her practice opening the lid, which is one side of the box, and she had a little difficulty so while the lunch box is secure, that doesn’t help a hungry kid needing a yogurt without the help of an adult.

We were thrilled with the changeable faceplates and I loved that it was dishwasher-safe and BPA Free but felt the design was bulky and needed to be easier to open for children. We have since switched out the containers to baggies (except for the sandwich box) so we can fit a juice box and utensils inside. Overall, I like the concept of the yubo but don’t think it’s quite there yet for families.

Thanks for such an honest review of the Yubo lunch box – they certainly look very appealing and attractive and I think the ability to change the face-plates is a good selling point and very creative.

Being a resident of the UK, I wasn’t able to find any local stores selling the Yubo lunch box but I did see a variety of colourful and vibrant lunch boxes (or sandwich boxes as we call ‘em) at http://www.superstoresearch.com/-Lunch+Box that come close but didn’t see anything in particular with the ability to change the face-plate. However, I have to say one of my favourites was the ‘Lego Lunch Box’ – search it to see what I mean, it looks just like one giant lego piece.
